Belly Mower on H

Was thinking of going to look at an H with a belly mower for use on my pasture, (gentle rolling landscape), wondering if how they work and if worth the extra money versus a tranditional pull behind mower. Or will I be going down the road of having a very large and heavy lawn mower that can only clip the top off a lawn. Thanks

The belly mower is probaly belt driven and in my experience belt driven mowers are not as good as PTO gear driven mowers in heavy cutting.

Sounds like you have picked a good combination as long as your "gently rolling" landscape is not too steep for the taller tractor and tri-cycle front end. Be careful to watch the hills for easy turn over. I have had some experience with this combo on a Cub and the only thing was stopping to shift gears. Since there is no live PTO, you must stop the PTO to shift gears. If the mower is turning at the higher RPM to mow, slow the throttle down first to lower RPM torque then stop and sfift. You may not always get the finish cut look like a newer style mower, but hey, by tommorrow no one will notice the difference. Good luck.

I have a Woods belly mower under my H. It does an excellent job of cutting the lawn. My mower is equipped with the finish blades, rough cutting blades are supposedly available, and then you are supposed to be able to handle the tall, thick stuff. I don't know how the rough blades work, I have never had a need to try them.
