Case-IH LOW ASH is the only engine oil that should be used. Anything else will lead to fouled plugs and burned valves. 30 weight during the summer and 10 weight during the winter. If you don't have a C-IH dealer nearby, go to your local CO-OP and have them match up a Low-Ash. Use a good quality name brand hydraulic fluid, just make sure to do a total drain and change so it's all the same brand, as additives in certain brands can react with the additives in other brands and cause problems. It's too difficult to describe the shift linkage adjustments, get yourself an I&T manual from your local farm store and follow the procedures for adjusting the clutch pedal, TA dump valve, transmission brake, TA linkage, shift linkage, and park lock linkage to the letter. Don't adjust one without adjusting the rest, they all affect eachother. The proper way to shift is- push the clutch pedal down 3/4 of the way and use the brakes to bring the tractor to a complete stop. Then push the clutch pedal all of the way down to engage the transmission brake. then shift. Never push the clutch pedal all of the way down while the tractor is in motion, as that will wear the transmission brake pad. The range transmission (Hi, Lo, R) should never be shifted while the tractor is in motion. The speed transmission (1,2,3,4) can be shifted while the tractor is rolling to get going in High 4 by pushing the clutch pedal 3/4 of the way down, but in most cases it's best to bring the tractor to a stop and engage the trans brake. Never engage the park lock while the tractor is rolling, as that is a sure way to bend the linkage or break a tooth off of the reverse driven gear.
