I ran across a for sale 656 Hydro this weekend , but I don't know much about them.
It shows 3900 hrs. and the owner quit farming.
It hasn't been run for 6 years, but the diesel engine does turn over. He claims that he had the Hydro rebuilt at about 3500 hrs. The tarctor needs a battery, a right rear tire and rim and a good clean up. It also has a mounted IH front loader on it. I would appreciate any imput on this model. Also any guess as to the vlaue?

Be afraid very afraid if you cant run it. Diesel engine expensive to fix if major parts need to be done. Hydro is another story. Great stuff when they are working. Could buy a couple other tractors for what it cost to fix one.
I see Hydros all the time at the sales. Run good but wont move.

I would buy for $1000 if not running. They can bring $6000 + if running great and good hydro.

Hi Jed,

Good enough model, but if it won't run it is only worth scrap iron price.

For the price, you could start by looking through the old ads in the clssified and photo ads on this site. You might can get a clue as to the sort of range other owners thought they could get.
I've always thought that if a tractor could be made to run with new fluids, battery, and some adjusting a person who wanted to sell it would be so far ahead by doing that they'd have to be really trifling not to.
Just me, tho.
