I got my new issue of American Rifleman. It had a story on the M1, and IHC building them. They were made from Junr 1951 to Jan 1956. 337,623 of them were made in the Evansville plant. I guess they are some of the most collectable of the M1's. Did anyone else see the story?
Ron

Wish I had. Just finishing up an RPM article on the M1 and it might have saved me a bunch of work.

Did IH make any of the M1-Carbines?

The IH rifles are neck and neck with Winchester for the most collectable Garand, with the H&Rs coming in close behind. I haven't seen the CMP offer IH Garands for a couple years.

Yes I read the article.....I have two IHC M-1 Grands,.....1 is a "snipper"....

If you are looking for one ....go to
WWW.gunsamerica.com.....look through index till you find Military rifles non-springfield....

I think there are 2 for sale....the going price right now for a nice IHC is about $1200....

They have been going up about $100 per year....

good luck Don

There was one at a vendor trailer out in the infield at RPRU this year. I think they had some articles on it. I thought it was pretty cool. To bad it wasn't for sale.

I saw an blurb about that in an issue of Red Power about a year or two ago. Another interesting fact, Singer Sewing Machine CO. made Colt 1911 .45 pistols, which are rare as well.
