Hydraulics lost

I have a Farmall H. The hydraulics have simply stopped working. I have a hose hooked up to a sickle bar grass cutter. Nothing unusual appears at the bar cutter cylinder or the hose. I filled up the system with fluid. Still, Pulling the hydraulic lever toward you does not activate the hydraulics on the cutter.

Any ideas from you farmers out there? I am just a guy who bought a farmall recently and not very conversant with it yet, although I am mechanically competent..just not with tractors yet. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

This sounds kinda simplistic, but once the bolt that holds the lever onto the shaft going through the trans case came loose and it was slipping on the shaft. Luckily, my lack of knowledge and simple mind found this before I tore into the hydraulic system.
Just something easy to check...

If the drive coupling to the pump is disconnected ot broken, the pump does not turn. It is easy to look at through the sheet metal cover to the rear of the pump on the bottom of the tractor. There should be no oil in that location to dump on you. As noted, the pump is not live. the clutch must be let out for operation. Good luck, JimN

You may need to reprime your hydraulic pump as well. I have a set screw on the top of my 340 pump for that.

Since you are not too familiar with the H, You should be aware that it does not have live hydraulics, and the clutch must be released in order to get the hydraulics to work . . .
