The Hydraulics will raise the cylinder but will not let fluid exit. I hooked up a two way cylinder and the hydraulics work when hoses are hooked up opposite. The draft control lever will not stay in position and falls back down to heavy draft position. ( any suggestions for problems)

Change your ends on the hyd. cyl. They do go bad and this will cause this to happen . Went thru this this spring on the disk and corn planter . It would raise it but if you went to drop it it would start down and just stop then you would have to raise it up and try to let it down slowly if you went to fast it would lock up again . Last year it was the plow that was doing the same thing And like Allen said tighten up the drag on the draft control lever it is and easy fix , But the adjusting bolt MAY be rusted tight and THEY will break off and then that is a real pain in the donkey . Myself i like to remove the bolt and clean out the threads with a tap and install a new bolt with never seeze on it for ease of later adjustments.

I Fixed the draft control lever by tighting the bolt. Crazy thing about hydraulics is it will work on a two way cylinder, hooked up either way, but not on one way cylinder. It will raise the cylinder and not let it lower. Nothing is wrong with cylinder or hydraulic line because it works properly on another tractor (Farmall 706).

Brian,

Just guessin' here, but it sounds to me like you aren't getting the hoses seated properly. Are you pulling the internal slider rearward, inserting the hose and then pushing the whole works forward again before throwing the lock lever?

There is a friction clutch at the bottom of the draft lever. It needs tightening 'bout once a year if used heavily. Takes a 1/2" socket, if I remember right.

Allan
