504 locking diff?

did any of the 504's have locking differential? i've looked at a couple of utilities and niether had it and my brother has 2 504's and they don't have it.

I'm pretty sure that diff lock was not available. The core design of these tractors came about long before diff lock was even a consideration.

that was what my brother said but i have seen B-414 a 300 utitility and a 460 utility with locking diff and they are all in the 50's. jus puzzled why the 504's don't.

wes: Yes you have seen B-414 and any of the other British built IH tractors with diff lock as early as mid 1950s.

It was never on any of the American built tractors until the late 60s early 70s. It was never available on any of the 00, 30-50, 40-60, 04-06 series, so you never saw it on a 300, 460 or 504. I'm not sure it was even on 56 series. The first I am aware of on American built tractors was 66 series, and that was not a solid gear lockup as in European tractors, but rather an oil bath limited slip disc.
