HEY THERE, I HAVE A 1944 FARMALL M AND ACCIDENTALLY A 12 VOLT BATTERY WAS HOOKED UP TO A 6 VOLT BATTERY AND A 6 VOLT SYSTEM. NOW THE TRACTOR WILL NOT FIRE AND IS GETTING NO SPARK TO THE COIL. I REPLACED THE COIL AND BATTERY ALONG WITH ALL THE FRIED WIRES.

WHAT DID I DO THE SCREWED UP THE ELETRIC SYSTEM AND WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX IT.

If this tractor has battery ignition, have you checked for battery voltage at the coil? If you are using (+ plus) ground on the battery, the plus
terminal wire on your coil goes to the distributor. Use a volt meter or lite to check for voltage at the coil with ignition switch on.
If you have voltage at the coil, pull the coil from the cap and hold within 1/8-1/4" of a good ground on the tractor while someone attempts to start tractor. You need to check the point gap, should be .020". Clean the points with some 320
grit and then clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. You should have a hot spark
from that coil wire. Hal

The points and condensor have been destroyed. Replace them and the tractor should be ready to go. Good luck.
