Hey, was wondering if any of you guys knew how much work changing main bearing seals on a 656 gas tractor is. Is it necessary to pull the engine or can it be done in-frame? Any suggestions would be appreciated since the tractor has been needing this done for 15+ years. Thanks,
Michael Herkamp

I think I would agree with River and pull that engine and do it right. Would be a good time to have the crank measured, block dipped and new cam bearings installed. Close tolerances on the bearings will give you good oil pressure too. Good time to check over the oil pump for any wear.

It probably can be done in frame but from what you are saying I would pull the engine and get the crank out and get it checked out.You may need to get it turned and get oversizes bearings.Just trying new bearings is an expensive failure if the crank is damage or just worn down too far.Just trying to help.....RBF
