OK what Im doing is, on my B I took off the ammeter box that has the light switch on it, and dont plan to put it back on because it was busted up and no lights. I have a distributor(Bat. Ignition) not a magneto. Where would you hook the wire that comes from the push/pull switch, the one goes to coil but were would the other one go or will this even work. Im not concerned about knowing if the charging system is working because it doesnt work anyway, I just want it to start and run. Thanks

I would make a little panel with an amp meter in it, a place for a fuse holder, and the push/pull switch. You might put the charging system together and need the gauge. The supply wire to the amp gauge should come from the mechanical starter switch battery side (10GA wire). The wire from the gauge should be the load point for all other lights and accessories through another fuse, (and the Gen/volt reg. when connected). One of these wires should go to the fuse, from the fuse a wire (12ga) should go to the supply side of the push/pull sw. I hope this helps. Let us know.

OK a couple of questions. Is the amp meter nessesary or is it just within the circuit to see if what the charging system is doing and to provide a place to hook power for the lights, and does the light switch have anything to do with the spark of the coil. I Drew a little diagram to show what Im trying to do and where the question lies, this tractor does not have lights, so I dont have to worring about getting power to them. Thanks for the input

If you want nothing but the tractor to run, hook one wire up to the hot side of the battery, to the switch, then from the switch to the hot side of the coil, this will give you juice to the distributor to make it run. Nothing will charge thsi way, but it will start and run your tractor this way.

So what you are saying is just take my wire in question and hook it up to the battery on the negative terminal.

Personally I would run a new wire from the ampmeter to a switch then to your lights. Put an in-line fuse between the meter and the switch. Don't bother with the ignition switch.
Good Luck
