I was recently given a 300 utility tractor. It appears the engine is stuck. Anyone have any recommendations as to what to dump in the cylinders to free it up? It's not that easy to get a tool between the front axle tube and the lower engine pulley to turn it over by hand.

Well...if you want to take Randy's advice...heck I might offer you a few $ and come get it out of your way. I have a fresh 350U engine I can bolt right up.

Could be your starter that is hanging up. Carefully remove it and try to turn the motor by hand. Maybe. QR.

There is a crank "shaft" sticking out of the front for a hand crank. Putting a crank on it. applying pressure, and hitting the starter can be of advantage.

This is what I do and so far it has worked about 99% of the time. Only had one engine it didn't work 100% on. I fill the cylinders with tranny fluid, then walk away for a few days, put the plugs back in to keep dirt etc out of the engine. Then put a battery in it and every day go out and hit the starter a few times, watch the crankshaft pulley, if it moves any at all. The remove the plugs and keep hitting the starter just nice fast hits don't hold the starter button. If it moved any it will brake free. Now if it hasn't broke free in say 2 weeks then top the cylinders off with turpentine, not paint thinner but the good old true turpentine and wait another week. Then give the starter a try again. Check out the web site a few of the tractors pictured there where locked up when I got them and now run well
