I have a leaking rear main oil seal on my MD. I am unsure if it is a one piece seal that I can put in without removing the crankshaft or do I have to remove the crank. Thanks for the help in advance.

You have to split the tractor.

I know that I have to split the tractor but I am wondering if I have to pull the crankshaft or not.

Don't have to remove crank, but I would check the main bearings because if to much clearance the seal will start leaking agian later. There was 2 type rear seal used, you will have rope type unless rear main seal update kit was installed sometime. It used neopreme seal.

the motor was completely overhauled 8 years ago with about 250-300 hours on it. The main bearings should not be wore out ( I think, I may be wrong) I am trying to avoid having to replace the bearings and possibly having to get the crankshaft ground again.
