Hello again, I really didnt get to check the tractor out very well after asking about the squelling on the hydro pump, I started it today and the hydro is working, the loader is lifting , but it is still making a noise out of the bottom end, sort of a whine now more than a squell as it lifts, I was thinking of trying the filter first before I go further, do you know the oil capacity and the filter number for the hydro filter, this is a IH 454 gas [not hydrostatic]thansk pat I guess maybe my hope is that the filter may be clogged , since it lifted the 3 point and the loader today, pretty easily as compared to not anything the other day.

Maple,

That's where I'd start.

Seems like when that hydraulic oil is going where it isn't supposed to, it sets up a squeal or whine. Bet your hydraulic filter is by-passing.

My old tractor has a leaking lift piston and the darned thing sings to high heaven; especially when it is cold.

Hi 454,
The capacity of the transmission/differential is 9 gallons of HyTran. You may require more as you have a loader.

Good Luck
