I left this in another forum but i thought i would leave it here also.

I am getting water in my oil and not sure where its coming from. Someone suggested that it might be my sleeves. I was hoping it was maybe just the head gasket.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Now you say you found a crack in the head??
be sure that whoever does it preheats the head after chamfering the crack edges not TOO thin please! then use a GOOD nickle ark rod and weld it in small short passes letting it cool between each one then reheating it up. after the last pass has cooledthat is its hot but no color shows, take a SMALL ball pien hammer and lightly but firmly take the ball part and tap it to releive the stresses in the metaldo the peining for 5-10 mins

Also they now have chemicals that will stop a blown head gaskit and guarentee it!
I run Moroso's block sealer in my engines and it helps if they are want to over heat and try to warp
If anyone want the name of the other stuff email me and I'll give it to you.

I'm now working on my H. It had antifreeze in the oil. I pulled the pan and put a piece of white cardboard under it, after awhile nothing showed up. I got out my little flash light bulb I soldered onto some fine wires and stuck it in the sparkplug holes nothing I could see that looked unusual, so I pressured up each cylinder, no bubbles, well I finally started taking it apart and saw a odd looking puddle on top of the head it had antifreeze in it, under that was a hairline crack I guess it would only let antefreeze thru. but anyway way a weld job and a new valve job and maybe, some ambition, I will find out if I've fixed it.
I hope there are some ideas in this that might be helpfull.

First off,how oftern do you run it? Condensation can build up over time and appear that you have a probelm when indeed you really dont. But I would be willing to say that its simply head gasket.Pull it and see, what will you be out of?

I would pull the oil pan and set a pan under the engine overnight to see you have any coolant leakage. You can also look into the radiator with the engine running to check for bubbles before pulling the pan. I had a GM car that had bubbles and it was cracked head. The antifreeze
got into the oil pan and caused wear on the bearings. Had to pull the engine. Hal

If you see any sign of antifreeze around the lower
block you should pressurize the radiator with 5 or 6 lbs of air pressure. You don't want to rupture the radiator with too much pressure. You then may be able to determine where the leakage is. I would look for any bubbles first. Hal

I don't know that seems kinda far fetched to me. I think the C-248 is a dry sleeved engine. So the coolant would have to have cavitated through the block and then dripped down behind the sleeve into the oil. Is there any white smoke when you start it accompanied by a sweet smell? If so, it could be a bad head gasket or a warped or cracked head. I am sure someone else will give you a definite answer. Good luck.

rbuss66, you said you're getting water in oil. Do you mean water or antifreeze? If water, then its just condensation, if antifreeze then take the others advice & look elsewhere.
