Working on an IH 140 that was moved yesterday (ran fine for about 10 mins after replacing key and push button switches). Today, it will start and run about 5 seconds and then die like it's starved for fuel (or air). Air cleaner is good; fuel runs clean from sed. bowl to carb and out carb bowl drain. Any suggestions as to a possible cause would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just had the same thing going on with my Super H. Finnished spreading some poo, the next day couldn't stay running. SOLUTION: somehow some poo got flung on the coil tower and was arcking out on the high side. Flicked the poo, running fine.

Bruce: You didn't mention fire or spark, I assume you have that.

The carb could be several things; float setting wrong, air leak within carb or where it bolts to manifold. From your description, it sounds as though this tractor may have been parked for awhile. You may have old gas in carb that has turned to shelac. Shelac may not be blocking flow through carb to the drain, but it could have fuel - air mixture going to manifold blocked up.

Hugh,
Thanks for the reply. I think I'll run some carb cleaner through it and see if it will loosen up without a teardown.
