O/T Temporary Shelters

24 hours ago I didn't even know what O/T meant, and now I already have an opportunity to use it.

My question is whether it is worth it to erect a temporary shelter next to the pasture where my tractor will be parked all summer. It is a bit of a hassle getting from the house to the pasture area where I will be mowing, so I would just like to leave the tractor down there all summer. My plans are to not bring it back to the house until October, unless it needs service of some sort. I have to cross my neighbors property to get to my pasture, and while he does not mind if I do that, I do not want to abuse the privilage, so bringing the tractor back to the house after each mowing is not an option.

I have been looking around, and it looks like I could get a cheap portable garage canpoy for around $250 - $300. A halfway decent one goes for $600 or so. My 350 utility is in pretty good condition, and my mower is brand new. It seems like a cheap way to keep them out of the rain when I am not using them.

What do you all think? Is it money well spent to keep the rain away, or is it a waste of money? If it is worthwhile, do any of you know of any reasonably priced sources of temp garage canopies?

As always, I appreciate your input.

Joe

One winter I kept an "H" outside and just covered it with a plastic tarp held on with bungie cords. Cost about $20. but of course a lot less convenient. Had to wait for the muffler to cool off before throwing that plastic over it,too.

I put one up a couple of years ago to keep my M out of the elements. It is 24' long X 12' wide. It's 10' high in the middle. The frame consists of seven 'hoops' and is covered by tarp material. I bought it at Menards for $450. Mine is up year around, and so far I like it alot.

IF youre refering to one of those pole and tarp type of deals,Lowes here had them for 150 bucks. No sides or anything, but a roof over it.Ive left mine setup for a couple of months and I have 6 small buckets with concrete in them I use for weight, plus a couple of small cheapo racket straps that I would attach to the tractor and the roof supports.Only took a few minutes.

Well, shelter for a 350U I don"t call that OT. If you can find a canopy for $250 or $300 and it is any good I would grab it. New ones around here go from $695 and up.

I never thought about using it as a doghouse. Not a bad idea. I could go out there on Friday evening when I get home from work, and not come back in until Sunday evening. So I should probably consider one with walls, door, sleeping cot, fridge..... ..

That weekend getaway alone would be enough to get me in the dog house if I wasn't already!
