Couple years ago I sold several tractors and implements, tools on this site. Equipment ended up all over the country and all sales were fast and friendly. At that time the general feeling was that it was better to put a telephone number in the ad to keep away the email spammers and towelheads. The new system of sending first emails through this site seems better and safer because it keeps the sellers email address unknown at first.

I personally like the first contact with a buyer to be by email and if everything goes well then telephone and complete the deal.

Just wondering if others prefer to make first contact from an ad by phone or email?

You better use the phone because emails never go through (at least in my case and some others). I have had numerous people tell me they did not receive my email. I always preferred email as first contact and then use the phone after I get some answers but can't do that any longer. I wish this site would go back to the old way and I could deal with the scam but at least then my emails went through.

I have bought a few items on here. I prefer to use the phone when I discuss the deal. I seem to get a better picture of the situation.
