I'm working on a freinds H and were having a problem with low oil pressure. The engine was rebuilt 6 months ago, yet the oil pressure was about the same as before the rebuild. all new bearings were replaced rods, main, cam. I was thinking that the oil pump was tired. I tought I saw on here that you can split the pump and put a washer in to increse the pressure?? not sure. Are there rebuild kits avaible for these pumps? Could the gasket be bad on the pump? We did not touch the pump during the rebuild. Thanks for the help
Andrew

Had an M with low oil pressure, fixed the pump and still had low oil pressure, put on a new gauge and my problem was solved.

Please also don"t forget about the pressure regulator spring and piston, the bore could be bad also

No you want to do the opisite . Take the pump apart and you may be able to get away with taking a gasket out or taking the bottom to a machine shop and have it planed smooth. JON

He had new cam bearings put in. Can I buy a new gasket for that pump? I'm going to pull it apart and check it out. If its worn will the bottom of the oil pump plate be all scrached up? will a pump off a H, SH, 300, 350 work if that one is toast? thanks Andrew

Did they install new cam bearings too? You need .001" to .0015" clearance on the bearings this is how you get good oil pressure. The oil pump
housing may be worn and the gears too. I don't think there's replacement gears for the H pump. You may have to buy a good used pump. You need to disassemble and inspect. I would put a gauge on it that is divided in 10 psi increments so you know what you have. Here's a web site for salvage yards. Hal
PS: 16 pages of them.
