I have a 350 with I think a "H" motor in it. It has an upright distributor. All my other Farmall's have a horizontal distributor, not vertical. Why this one ??

ok brain cramp it was on my 40H and NOT the 44H.

Actually I thought the upright distributor was a GREAT idea until I started to install my alternator. I havn't finished yet but I think the distributor is gona be in the way. If not the distributor I know the wires will be.

Nebraska Cowman do you know if a magneto fit as is or would you need to change the adapter again?

Sam, My 44 H had an aftermarket "upright" distributor (as well as a few other components) See the link for a photo. It think it was an AC. There was a tag way around the back. I took the model number to my local NAPA dealer and he had the cap and rotor in stock. No dust shield available. If this looks like your unit drop me an E mail and I will get you part numbers.

Sam, If you do have an H engine installed in a 350, and it has hydraulics, someone probably installed the vertical distributor to get it a little farther away from the hydraulic pump. It's not really necessary but some feel it's handier at tune time.

It is a delco conversion from magneto. not that uncommon.Just don't try to put IH points in it.

The H should have the "straight" distributor also. It sounds like you got a Allis I know there like that make distributor, on there or someother make maybe on there. but its not IH. That I know of. Andrew
