In the classifieds there's an A Farmall with a 305CI V8. Cool as it looks, how would that work? I would think one hole shot and there would be pieces on the ground...? What do you think? Glenn F.

He!!, I'd be scared to drive the thing- one pop of the clutch and... bye-bye trannsmission. That's just kinda stupid, just another way to kill yourself.

My stock Farmall A has more than enough power to spin the tires... meaning that traction will be the limiting factor.

I would say no worries given the size of the rear tires, unless you are doing wheelies while pulling something!

Also remember, these tractors were fairly over-engineered. There are M's pulling with over 100 horsepower, and one with a 3116 Cat engine...

I agree with you on the A's traction issue with stock tires, but those tires have to hook up at some point. M's at 100hp,in a 40 factory horsepower tractor, I suppose, but that 305 must be 175-200hp in a tractor that was probably 19hp from the factory. I'm sure the owner doesn't plan on pulling 6+ sixteens or anything, but I maintain, if he comes anywhere NEAR using all that horsepower, it's gonna be curtains for that little A! Glenn F.

I don't know. I know of a guy that put an IH V8 in a B. Looks almost factory as he had a different torque tube cast for it.

Probably not practical, but what a conversation piece!
