I was brushchopping cornstalks with a JDA and hit a groundhog den and drove right past my front wheels and pedistal.

Wow!!! How in the world could that many spindles break one after the other? Definitely doesn't sound like a coincidence. Those front ends were designed to be able to handle those big huge tractor mounted chemical tanks. I would think that if they were built strong enough to do that, bouncing through a field would still not tax any front end part beyond its limits. Either you are getting defective spindles, someone is driving WAY too fast through plowed or rutted fields, or something is damaged or bent in the front end and is causing excess stress on that spindle.

I believe there is a heavier square front end. We have a round one on our 5488--used for fieldwork--and haven't had any problems. Perhaps inferior quality replacement spindles?

...or excessively careless hired help?

If it's breaking off because you keep hitting chuck-holes while mowing with it at 8-9MPH , a heavier front end will only move the breakage to the next weak point. Whoever's driving will find themselves eating steering wheel for lunch when the entire front end is ripped out from under the tractor!

The answer in this case is to stop hitting chuck holes, not a heavier front end! Pay attention to where you're going. Slow the heck down! If your driver can't do that, find a different driver.
