...not a IH tractor question but an International Harvester 1953 truck question. Know of one for sale, large truck, what would this thing weigh? It's about 90 miles from home and the only thing I have to tow it with is a Ford ranger. Restored, I think it would make a wonderful truck to haul tractors to the tractor shows, etc...

-thanks,
Clarene

1955 pug nose cabover sounds like it might be old 180 or 190 if so they were some of the larger trucks on road at that time and will probaly weigh 12,000 lbs. or more. JUST A GUESS. Saw a picture recently of long line of these old trucks loaded with letter series Farmalls believe it was on this forum not sure.

Picture is on cover of current issue of Red Power and tractors that I can identify are SMTAs.

You do not say what IHC Truck you are talking about. In my opinion any thing larger than your Ranger is going to be unsafe and I am sure will get the attention of either law Enforcrment Officer or a Citizen willing to "Drop a Dime/Quarter on you.1953 would probably be an "R" Series Truck and an R or L Cab and Chasis is right at 8500 LBS Gross Wt. with a Bed it is more.

They are a lot heavier than a pickup. I don't think you want to haul it with a ranger.

...think your right. Someone on another website called this truck a pug nose cabover, although it mentioned it as a 1955 version. Still trying to find vitals statistics...

Do it right and have it towed , it is not worth the risk. Way to heavy for a Ford Ranger! If it is what you are looking for spend the $200-$300 to have it brought home with a wrecker.

If it is registered as fit you can get a temporary permit and drive it home, all you need is proof of insurance. Martin
