I have just completed a major overhaul on my MD and have been running it some in the shop to Iron out the kinks, but it still has some blow-by and slobering coming out the blow-by tube, and was wondering if I would have to pull the tractor a couple of hours to seat the rings to get this to stop or have I messed somthing up here. I have run it up to temperture and let it run for about two hours, or will it take more than that to do it?

Hey farmhand we overhauled our SuperMD about four years ago and it still has some blow-by
and not much oil dripping out of the tube thou, you will want to put your MD on a good steady load for a while a half a day would not hert it a bit. These moters are harder to break in than a gas engine. good luck

You need to get a load on that engine asap, the rings won't seat properly until that happens. Put it on a dyno, feed grinder, something belt driven, or a drawbar load. Vary the rpms and load for at least a half hour.

I completely overhauled my MD several years ago. I have run it for quite a few hours and I still get blowby. I also get some oil dripping out of the breather tube. I think because of the high compression diesel you get more blowby than with a gasoline engine. Others may have comments also. Roger
