The 756 was built 1968 thru 1971. An improved version of the 706. Engines Diesel 310 cu. in. 76 PTO hp 69 drawbar hp Gasoline 291 cu. in 76.5 PTO 68.2 drawbar
LP Gas 291 cu. in. 76.3 PTO 68.4 drawbar

Shipping weight ( diesel )8350 lbs. Transmission- 8 forward 4 reverse with optional Torque Amplifier- 16 forward 8 reverse Two or three point hitch 540 and 1000 Pto or 1000 only

The "Custom" models were not as fully equipped as the "Farmall" designated models, therefore they were sold at a lower price. Custom models did have fenders. One headlight in the fenders. No rear work light. Not equipped with ether starting aid. Mounting step and grab handle on left side only. One auxiliary hydraulic valve. Perhaps other differences also.

I have one with over 11,000 hrs. on it. It is a good mid-sized tractor.

Not sure why popular matters, but they certainly weren't as popular as the bigger 856 or smaller 656. There are a lot more of either of those around than 756s.

Custom means one hydraulic remote, no fenders, fast hitch instead of 3pt. Anything that could be removed to make the tractor less expensive, was.

The gas models are HARD on gas if you use them for any real work. D310 diesels are expensive if they have problems because the injector pump can't be rebuilt. You have to buy a new pump.

Ryan they were a popular tractor in there day 291 gas or the D310. IH came with costom to compete with JD. Same tractor but less options when buying.
