thanks for the replys guys i had bought this old tractor cpl yrs agao and havent gotten it running well yet..just cpl cylinders firing..i custom brushhog with a 2424 int{with no power steering :( } and thought this would be more horse so i could step up to a 6ft hog and save time..would prefer a hi low trans and no torque but anything like that is very $$$ right now seems like thats what everyone wants..was looking for a cheap way out but i will keep looking i guess..thanks again

I have a Farmall 404 row crop and an International 404 low boy and I think you would be better off finding the utility rather than trying to convert. That way you can have another tractor (can't have too many). I use my 404 low boy to cut the pasture with and does a good job and keeps me below the tree limbs. I realize you are talking 504 and not 404 but I think the same would apply to both.
later,
Jerry

There's very little the same between a 504 Utility and a 504 Farmall besides the engine.

Where are you located? If you have a line on a Utility, you have a buyer for the Farmall. I know the 504s are gutless wonders, but I've always wanted one for some reason.

The utility version of the 504 used a totally different front bolster than the row-crop. The utility has no frame rails, and the bolster bolts to the engine block. Anything is possible with time and $$$, but you'd be way better off to trade for a 504 Utility. Tons of them out there.
