Where do you install a block heater on a 1970 826D? Did a search for plugs and have come up short.

There are no frost plugs on the german's made before the late 70's or so. There are two way's to go, the lower radiator hose heater that in my opinion does not do a good job of warming a diesel block or the tank type heater. For the tank heater you run a hose from the block drain on the left side of the engine block to the tank heater and from the heater to the water pump carrier plug on the left side. The heater will circulate warm water thru the block, works great. Just be sure to get a 1500 watt heater.

Your dealer might have them but any auto parts store or farm store will have them. I bought mine from the local farm store, works good. They make them in several power ratings from 500 to 1500 watts. Make sure you get the highest wattage one you can get.

don't put an either can on that thing!! go to your local case-ih dealer and get one that goes on the bottom radiator hose. not to many 826 tractors out there and a 358 is hard to find also. keep her in good shape

I have 756 and 856, both 1969 Custom models. Neither of them has ether injection system installed from factory. The Custom models were a "no extras" version of the Farmall. The ether injection was available as a kit to add to a tractor, if so desired.

Thanks for the reply with the Pic Allen, but there is nothing like that on this block. I have searched all over the block and there is no plug big enough for the block heater the IH dealer sold me, in fact I think there is only one plug on the whole block and it is maybe 1/4 inch. It is behind the fuel filters. I Guess I will have to install a canister type.

My goodness! What is that thing out front, a soda can crusher? It"s kind of a funny looking etherizer- never saw one like that. Maybe it holds muffler bearing lube, like Ol" Rog would say. ;>)
