I recently purchased a cub & am trying to figure out what year model it is. The metal serial# plate on right side shows 458070 and the engine serial number is 25134 1R6 L 613 X. Can someone tell me if I"ve got the #"s backwards and or what year model it may be? Also i was draining the radiator and getting it winterized. It took a lot of muscle to loosen and remove the plug. When i finally got it off, half of it was eaten with corrosion and I"ll have to replace it with another something since there are not enough good threads left on the old one. Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for the benefit of your wisdon and experience.

458070 doesn't mach up. It is probably 158070 and a '52 model. That also matches up with your block date code. The 251xxx R6 number is a part number, not useful for determining year.

Thanks for the info. Jim. You may be right. Maybe I need to look at the serial # Plate once more.

If it is a red cub 25134# makes it a 1948. For the drain plug I put in a brass pipe plug. stainless steel would work also. Bill

I don"t have # lists, they are however to the left (under serial numbers!!)
The plug is atandard pipe thread. take it to a good hardware store and match it out. The threads in the tractor should be chased (cleaned up with the correct pipe tap). Renting one of these is possible.
