I just purchased a Model:"McCormick Farmall 140" according to the ID plate. The serial number is 59160JKK. I have no idea of the year it was made or what to use as a reference when ordering parts manual etc. If some one is familiar with this tractor please help me. It has a belly mower ID#: C3 U1111. Any help on the mower would be great too!
Thanks!

KK means optional 4th gear -- I don't know what speed that means, perhaps faster, as the normal one was only about 10 mph. Can't answer the McCormick thing.

R Wolfe: Something is not quite adding up here. Do the tractor decals or ID plate actually say McCormick? I agree with Hal in that serial number 59160 would indicate a 1975 model. J stands for Rockford clutch. No idea on the KK. After 1967 the name McCormick no longer appeared on IH tractor decals or ID plates. The main name badge on the side hood became INTERNATIONAL rather than FARMALL. Farmall then appeared in small letters on model badge.

Unfortunately the tractor has been painted recently, so the decals are not necessarily original... It does however clearly show on the ID plate (on the side of the transmission)the name "McCormick" above the name "Farmall"... then under that stamped in the metal plate "59160" then with a diffenet stamp (looks to be handheld) "JKK" in larher letters. Thanks for your reply and help!

Re: Guy Fay or CNKS this is one for you in reply to R. Wolfe, 11-28-2005 06:42:10
R Wolfe: I may have backtrack here. I'm quite certain McCormick no longer appeared in decals after 1967, however I'm not certain about ID plate. I do know the large decal on side of hood changed from FARMALL to INTERNATIONAL with the word Farmall in small letters above 140 model badge. Those letters JKK being stamped with larger stamp is right, just slightly larger than the numbers 59160.

I think this item McCormick on ID plate is one for Guy Fay or CNKS. The ID plate on my 1963 140 serial number 22157 J does say International Harvester then under that McCormick with the word Farmall under it and 140 on same line.

As to books, just order all your manuals from Binder Books -- they will cover all years of the 140, particularly in the parts manual -- there are no manuals for the individual years.
