You can measure the diameter of the exhaust pipe
threads to find the correct size pipe tap. The outside diameter of 1-1/4" pipe is 1.6660" and for 1-1/2" pipe it is 1.9". Check with your local rental store to see if they have the correct tap. Home Depot rents tools too. Hal

PS: Pipe thread is measured on the diameter of the inside threads. For 1-1/4" pipe the inside
diameter is 1-1/4".

I second that - check the size first. The exhaust pipe for my 340U is 1 1/4: wouldn"t be surprised if your"s is as well.

I"ve heard of folks making a thread chaser by getting a new piece of pipe or a pipe nipple of the same size with nice new threads, and cutting 6 or 8 saw kerfs just the depth of the threads into the threads at a right angle while holding it in a vise. Then use that as a thread chaser.

Check your local metal scrap yard for a piece of pipe for a new stack. I found a 24 inch long piece of stainless steel 1" pipe for my Cub for $5, and it sure looks good! Mke sure you put antisieze on the parts before you thread them back together.
