Fellas, I gotta lot of questions- heres the deal.

Trying to get ready for winter (Nebraska winter..70 one day -30 windchill the next). I Have 49 M, and I want it to push snow if we ever get some, but mostly it will just set until spring or nice winter days. What should I do to have it in good shape.I can't spend a whole lot of money right now and I really only have this weekend to work on it. So this is what I'm dealing with right now.

Gas leak- It seams to drip out somewhere between the on/off valve and the carb. On one day it just kinda ran out of the carb -so i turn the gas off and started tractor, then turned the gas on and it has never run out the carb since. Mostly, it just kinda drips from the base of the sediment bowl and the on/off switch(I changed rubber inside and cleaned the bowl-still drips) . Question....Do I want this tank full of gas for the winter or just add gas as i need it? If I need gas in it all winter I will need to fix the line- any quick solutions?

Radiator- It sometimes runs out the top but never much. I bought a new radiator cap and it ran out worse so I put the old one back on and it really doesn't even have a rubber deal. Does this need a 50/50 mix for winter or straight antifreeze. How much does it take? do I need to flush this and if so any tips are appreciated because I've never done it before.

The tractor has an electric hook up that can be pluged in.. I don't have clue if it works and it looks pretty old. I assume this helps it start when its cold. Any pointers?

Also, this tractor has an F-10 loader with not very much hydraulic fluid any particular fluid recommended or things I should do with the loader for the winter?

What about keeping the battery lively?

I know I've asked alot but any pointers or direction is really appreciated or any other things I'm not think about or just don't know.

Thank you, Scott

About the gas leak - my H leaks at the cut off if I open it all the way. If I open it until it stops and then turn it half a turn back in it doesn't drip at all.
Fot the radiator, Old's right. Most often cause is over-full. Stick a finger in when it's cold, should just touch the top of the fluid.

I just looked at my manual for a F-10 last week & it says to use 10 weight non-detergent in the winter & 30 weight non-detergent in the summer. You may want to use Hy-Tran or an equivalent hydraulic oil year around. Flush out the system if you are not sure what is in there now.

This F-10 had a hydraulic leak earlier in the summer along the left front side. I see there is a pin along that side that runs through. Is there any way to get in there and fix the leak? This is my first f-10 loader and I don't know much about them. A couple guys gave me pointer before but I was unsuccessful in finding the problem. Thanks Scott

Just a suggestion, a brand new sediment bowl assembly from your Case-IH dealer will cost about $20. You will spend twice that much buying parts to repair the old one.

Should I keep the tank full of gas after I get this leak fixed? Would a half tank be better with that stablizer?

according to theory a full tank is always better, less chance of condensation that way. Personally I have never worried about it. The tractor that I use in the winter to push snow is very lucky if it ever has so much as a half full tank. Most of the time it is somewhere between empty and 5 gallons. This is the beauty of a sediment bowl, it will catch the condensation before it can get to the carb. Also, I have never used Stabil in anything I own.

Whatever you want to do, just don't leave the tank so low that the remainder evaporates. You don't need stabilizer.

Your gas leak could be to bowl gasket or you don't the the shut off nut tight enough. As far as antifreeze 50/50 is better the 100% antifreeze. As far as the rad your probably just plain fill it to full. Water/antifreeze should only cover the cores by about 1 inch, any more and its to full.

I did change the gasket and thats when it leaked from the carb, but I shut off the gas and it started just fine and I turned the gas back on and it didn't leak out the carb anymore.

You may have had a little junk in the float seat and when you started it and then turn on the gas it may have cleared the needle of the junk.

The leak is manditory to fix. Starters produce many sparks. Always shut the fuel off at the tank (even when fixed) this is SOP for all tractors without electrical shutoff solenoids.
