Ben – As the others suggest rust has caused the clutch disk has to stick to the flywheel/pressure plate. Not uncommon for a tractor that’s been sitting for a while – especially where it’s humid. However rather than trying to free it up by starting in gear this is safer and usually works for me: Use another tractor, P/U or whatever to pull the tractor alternately forward and backward with it in gear. Put the tractor’s transmission in 3rd or 4th, block the clutch pedal all the way down or have an assistant hold it down. Then with the ignition OFF and the clutch pedal down, pull the tractor a few feet forward - so the engine rolls over a couple dozen revolutions or so. Then move your tow vehicle around to the other end and pull the tractor BACKWARD a few feet transmission still in 3 or 4 and clutch depressed). Repeat these short forward and backward pulls as required. Unless the clutch is stuck really bad it’ll usually free up within 2 or 3 pulls. And once it’s unstuck it will work as if nothing had happened. Incidentally there is no fluid level, etc associated with the clutch on a Super C – it’s 100% mechanical.
