Check with your local radiator shops to see if they will dip and seal it. This will seal your leak, cure/prevent any rust problems you may have and, as a side benefit, prepare the exterior for painting.

Had the same kind of problems with a tank a couple
of years ago, had a crackin a seam. I used a
product called PC7. It is a product some what like
JB weld only three times as good. It comes as a
two part compound but unlike JB weld, this is in
a paste form. Mix equal parts together and apply with putty knife or something simular. It sets up hardas a rock. Heat doesn't bother it, gasoline,
oil, or cold. It's a quick fix and it works. It can be bought at automotive parts stores or hard-
ware stores like ace. This stuff can be drilled
and tapped for threads even. And it doesn't crack
with age give it a try,it's a cheap fix. Just make sure the surface is clean when you apply it.
Good luck, let me know if you try it and it works
for ya.

Call around and see if any of your local radiator shops or welding shops will do it. Soldering is the best fix in my opinion, but it is a very dangerous job for anyone but an experienced professional.

Permatex has an epoxy made for gas tank repairs. They claim it will repair cracks up to 4 inch and holes up to 3/8 inch permantly. I have never used it but it gets good reviews.

As Geoff said to clean it very well and use a large soldering iron. Use that soldering paste too. Don't smoke or have any flames nearby. The soldering iron will do a good job and is safe. Hal

CAUTION ??? Soldering generates heat possible sparks. Doing this could cause an explosion.
