I have a 300U - but the existing 3 pt hitch is not wide enough for standard impliments, and is fixed in a rigid "U" shape. Has anyone altered this hitch so that conventional impliments will fit? If so, please tell me how and e-mail me a drawing if possible. Thanks
P.S. There is a lot of play in the steering wheel-#/4 of a turn- how can this be corrected?
Thanks=Ron

Ron, there's three adjustments on the 300 utility steering gear and one inside the box that involves adding/removing shims. To explain this makes for a pretty long post, so if you're interested, send me an email and I'll forward the procedure to you.

Ron, Stiner tractor has both inserts. One set straight and one set offset. That way you have the best of both worlds. Don't mess with the wishbone hitch...you will never get it right.
A friend did his...and had to replace the whole thing.
My 2 cents.

I fabricated a hinged lift arm insert for the fasthitch socket. It works well. It allows me to attach 3 point equipment using the original fast hitch rigid frame. I have included a link for a conceptual drawing. Regarding the steering, unfortunately that is a famous problem for these tractors. There is an adjustment that will take some of the play out. It is a screw with lock nut located on the steering housing. The service manual covers the procedure.

If it has 3 point adapters in the fast hitch prongs, it may be about the same width as a cat 1 3 point, I don't know how the fast hitch width compares to cat 1, though. It is also a cat 1 hitch if it happens to be an aftermarket stand alone 3 point. The implements you are referring to are likely cat 2, with a wider spacing. If the pins on the implement can be removed, take them out and reinstall so that they point in instead of out. That may make the implement fit, may not. In the unlikely event the hitch is a cat 0, toss it and get a decent hitch. Others will have other ideas.

The 3pt adapters that come straight back from the FH arms are Cat.1 and should fit Cat.1 equipment. Cat.2 arms are offset out. I had both at one time for various 3pt equipment.

The problem is there is no side movement to the Int. fast hitch which does not allow any conventional 3 pt cat 1 equipment. The idea of hinging the arm is a good one, but a lot of machining, however, it may be the only way.
Thanks a lot
Ron

As CNKS said, your solution for use of standard Category 1 3-point equipment is to attach the conversion bars to the equipment FIRST, prop them up parallel to the ground with a 2x4 on top of a cinder block (or whatever else is handy or turns your crank) and then BACK the tractor into them. Hop off and hook up the toplink, and you're ready to go.

No cutting or welding is necessary, and it's certainly not desirable. The spacing of the fixed U-shaped hitch was set up to match the standard 26" Category 1 spacing. If the implement you're trying to use doesn't fit, it's not standard Category 1 equipment.

Backing the tractor into the adapters beats the heck out of the 3-point system on the old Ford tractors where you end up wrestling with the implement, or the tractor, or both, while trying to get things to line up.

If you need the bars for mating the 3-point equipment to the Fast Hitch, follow the link to find one supplier.

Pain in the patoot, but you can attach the three point adapter to the implement first, then back into it. Depends on how often you have to change implements, or how many adapters you can afford.

My FH was on a 706 diesel and had sway blocks that you could use to either make the hitch fairly rigid or have some side sway.
