With the tractor running the quick hitch is fine if moving up or down, but when left in any one position it puts a load on the engine like it is trying to left a heavy load. Any ideas? Thanks Wayne

Your unloading valve (regulator/saftey valve in IH terms) is stuck. Should be located in the valve bank under the dash. It will be the one with no linkage attached to it. Should be able to repair it without removing it from the tractor. It has an end cover held on by four bolts. Remove the end cover, but be careful in doing so, as it has heavy springs pushing against it. Remove two bolts in opposite corners first, replace them with bolts that are at least an inch longer, then start loosening the other two bolts. Once you get the cover off, pull the two pistons out, polish them and their bores with fine emery cloth, clean with diesel fuel, and replace the o-ring on the piston. Kind of in between the two piston bores, you'll see what looks like a flat headed screw, screw it out. This is the orifice screen. If it is collapsed or dirty or otherwise damaged, get a new one from your Case-IH dealer. Replace the cover gasket and you should be in business.

Thanks a lot. I'll probably get into it this afternoon, Wayne
