I have an IH240u with points that need replaced. I pulled them without measuring the gap (yes I now realize that wasn't wise). This tractor has been converted to 12 volt (still positive ground) but doesn't have a magneto. Does this change the gap I need to set the points at? Or can I still use the gap provided by my manual? If I'm reading the manual correctly, this tractor originally came with a magneto. Thanks

I've never worked on a 240U, but just about all the other IH's with battery ignition I've worked on have specified .020 points gap.

If that isn't correct, I hope somebody will step in with the right gap, but if it were mine, I wouldn't be afraid to set them at that until/unless I had reliable information to the contrary.
