Upon recently reassembling the valve train on my F-20, I have found that the valve cover doesn't seal at the valve cover gasket. The gasket = 0.125" thick and the gap with the cover fully seated minus gasket is 0.15". I suspect I have the wrong stack-up of fasteners from the oil trough up. From the oil trough up I have the spacer, flat washer, lockwasher, nut, then valve cover in that order. Is that correct? Or maybe the gasket is too thin? Thanks for any help

Take out the flat and lock washers. Also a lot of times the top of the cover is smashed down from being overtightened. It should be flat on top.

That should work. I just don't like to have leftover parts, especially lockwashers. With the valve cover nut on, the lower nut can't go anywhere so who needs the lockwasher. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks again Cowman!!!
