I have yet to find a new seat for my H with the correct bolt pattern. Don't know if my pedistal has been modified or if they don't make the right seat anymore. The four holes on new ones are off 45 degrees to my mount. Do I just need to modify one or the other?

It's four bolts but the seats I've seen (and bought) have the bolt holes forty-five degrees off. I'd be facing either 10:30 or 1:30. Didn't know if my mount was "adjusted" or if I would have to adjust the seat. matt.

Matt,

The earlier Hs used only a 2 bolt pattern. The newer seat should still work if you only use two of the holes.

That is correct Allan, Both my 1940 H and my 1940 M have only 2 bolts holding the seat on. The seats are the newer Monroe style, not the original pipe or square tube affair.

Well the seat bracket on Puffy, my 1940 M is a Wedonit and the seat is a highback with armrests so I guess I better just stay out of this one huh. :-) Harley

Harley, I saw an M not too long ago that had a seat from what I believe was maybe a 966? They had removed the entire assembly from the donor tractor, and welded it to the platform on the M. Looked like it would be a very comfortable ride, but with just a little more work it could have been installed so that it was removable.

Ya there's no way I was going to weld on the platform, so I laid angle iron pieces up on the platform to fit the holes, then welded them together till I had it where I wanted it, then just set the seat on it and drilled holes for the seat brackets, and now have a springy, sliding, highback, armrest, seat on a 65 year old tractor. Feels good, Harley
