power beyond for a loader on a 484

I am trying to hook up a Great Bend loader onto my IH 484. I have 1 remote on the back of the tractor, but I would like to add a power beyond plate so I do not tie up my remote with the loader. I also would like to plumb hoses from the power beyond plate to just in front of the right foot platform and have some quick disconnects there. My questions are: 1. With the power beyond plate and the quick disconnects unplugged (loader not on the tractor) will this drag the engine down similar to when nothing is plugged into the remotes and the lever is engaged? 2. The valve that I received with my loader has an inlet, outlet, and a port that is plugged with a warning saying to not use this valve with open center systems. Aren't IH's open center? But this depends on the answer to question 1, does the power beyond plate make this act like a closed center system? 3. If I decide to use the remotes I will have to lock the lever by my right foot down, but when the loader valve is in the neutral position wont it drag the engine down?

I would appreciate any help on this and look forward to your replies, this forum has been very helpful in the past on other problems I have had.

Also, if the power beyond plate sounds like the way to go, does anyone know where I can get one other than an IH dealer.

Thanks Jeremy

Jeremy, here's what I did - I used a Ford 2 spool open center valve, mounted up by the steering wheel. I ran 2 half inch hyd. hoses [in/out] down to the Multiple Control Valve. On the side of the MCV are two steel hyd. lines feeding the factory remote hyd. cylinder, I removed the one going to the factory remote valve and put the IN from my new valve there, the OUT from my new valve, I connected to the steel line I removed [the old out] Now, the new valve is in series, oil flows [because it's open center] from the MCV, through my new valve, through the factory valve, and back to the MCV. You can't use Tee's on OC hydraulics. Hope this helps.

One thing, you could also do these connections where the steel lines go into the factory remote, there's just more room to work at the MCV.

Every IH I ever saw had open center hydraulics on it - I added a 2 spool valve to my 574 for a loader without using/adding to the factory valve mounted down by the seat, but it was so long ago I can't remember how I plumbed it - I'll look today & get back on here later with the info.

Hi Jeremy, my brother has a 495 which is just a newer model of the 484 with a 2250 loader on it and I don't believe he has a power beyond plate installed. There are 2 hydraulic hoses that run under the foot rest on the brake side. The supply line connects into a plug in the hydraulic housing by the control levers. The return line goes into a plug just in front of the rear axle. Looked in my I&T shop service manual and could not find a picture of the plumbing.

Good Luck
