Well guys, thanks for the input on the choice of what plow to buy. Turned out both the 2-14 and 3-14 hadn't been in the ground for years. Tires flat, bearings out etc. I passed. Thought some of you might be interested in the tractor prices. I would call all the tractors in average conditon. M with a loader -$800, Super MTA - $2600 w/ bad TA, 3 C's 650, 700 and 800. M sold first. Thought it sold pretty cheap. Was surprised the others sold as high as they did. NE KS near Lawrence.

You are better off. You will be much happier with an IH plow. I have seen too many JD plows that cannot get in the ground. IH made the best plows in the day.

I read your previous posts. I would look for a 2 bottom and steer away from the 3s. I have a Farmall 300 and can pull 3-14" in sandy loam but not in clay. It gives the old 300 a decent workout pulling a 2-14" in sticky clay. I have not done anything to the motor yet and the TA is out on the low side. But there is no sense working your tractor hard and on the TA anyway.

I have pulled a plow with a plan old M for many days in my life. When I was just a little younger my dad pulled 4-14s with a W-9 and I pulled 3-14 with the old M turning over old soilbank farm ground. It pulled it just fine. Your SMTA will pull 3-16 all day and never get tired. Have fun
