Is there a way to pull the steering drive shaft out for seal replacement without removal of the entire upper and lower bolster assembly? Can I just disconnect the upper bolster from the lower bolster at the four cap screws to accomplish this?

Yes, you can drop the shaft out the bottom after removing the lower portion.

BUT, if you just need to replace a seal, fill the gearbox with gun grease and don't look back. It has been proven modern gun grease will grease steering gearboxes just fine.
