I have a MD that misses on cylinders 1&2 on both gas and diesel.Tractor has been inactive for some time.Good compression on both cyls, valve clearance correct,spark/plugs good, injectors bled, filters changed, fresh fuel in tank.Excessive smoke when on diesel. Are the injectors leaking, would this cause it to miss on gas also?Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

If the intake manifold butterflys are not connected on 1/2 of the intake system, there will be no gasoline going to those cyl on warmup. These units do not start on diesel unless very warm/hot, then they won't crank due to compression loading.
I'd look to the intake pluming. I seem to remember a coupling (or some linkage that might cause this symptom.
Good luck, they are great units.

Could the butterflys cause it to miss on diesel also?

Diesel fuel can make it miss on the gas cycle.

Usage may correct the problem. Have you had it good and hot under load with injector cleaner.

Are you sure you're getting fuel to those cylinders? Hal
