Is there any source of what SN's were delivered to or sold by a particular Farmall dealer in the early 40's?

Glen: Like Chris, I think a dealer may be your only hope. There are a few CaseIH dealers, formerly IH dealers, for 3 and 4 generations now, that have a record of every tractor sold new by them.

Most of the local Farmalls were sold by the local Co-op. Since my 544 was a local tractor, I was able to trace its lineage through their records.

I think that was brought up quite a while back.I think Guy Fay was going thru IH records, but either there were too many for 1 guy to condense,or else such records are lost.....I think it was one or the other.I think everyone would like to know where their tractor was originally sent....however,unless you can trace its lineage of past owners...you may never know.

I am pretty sure that those records have been lost forever.

That would be a huge loss. What was the cause of it? Fire? The Tenneco buyout? Chrysler lost its VIN records in a 1979 fire...those records would reveal what VIN#s existed on certain famous cars....including TV and Movie cars/trucks,that Chrysler supplied new to the film makers.

I asked Guy in reference to my grandfather's tractor. He said all the records were intentionally destroyed during one of the ownership changes.

That's how I remember it. If he sees this he'll enlighten us.
