I have seen a few mta's switched over from gear oil in the rear to hytran. i think some of the axle bearings had to be replaced to do this, and i think 450 bearings were used. Has anyone done this? and can it be done to an m as well as an mta?

I have thought about doing the same thing for my super H But also plumbing in the hydraulic pump for a bit more oil capacity. My own thought was the only real problem might be that I would suddenly develop a bunch of leaks Pto axle and brake shfts etc.

Redeye All the tractors with a TA should have been switch to Hytran 50 years ago and the SMTA never had 90 in them for long. Before Hytran IH had an additive to put in lighter oil. No bearings to change.

I have HyTran in my MD. Never had a problem with gear grinding. Seems same as with gear oil. I think the belly pump causes enought drag to slow things up.

hy-tran should be used on any tractor with a torque, 80w90 for a h or m.

redeye hy-tran will work, but you will have more gear grinding when shifting because the light oil won't stop the transmission like gear oil steve
