First thanks to all of you who helped with my first rebuild (1944 H). It starts right up and runs great except for minor (I hope)glitch.

The engine has one speed setting where it wants to surge, perhaps gallop is a better word. It's smooth as silk at idle and high speeds, but surges at, more or less, a single speed settting a notch or two above idle. It dosen't seem to matter if its under load or not. Any ideas on where to check?

Be sure the timing is set at top dead center(double notch) with the engine not running and re-adjust the idle air mixture screw (the one just below the governor tube; in is rich-out is lean).

Make sure the link between the governor & carb is in the notch, that will cause it to gallop if you didn't get the rod in the notch. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
