Been out of town for a few days so I didn't reply. I'm just north of Granger,I am a retired Mechanical Contractor. We have worked in Grinnell a few times.I can't remember the name of the big nursing, retirement home in town. That.s how I got my 330. A gentleman had a farm sale northeast of town in 1978. He kept his 330 and blade when he moved to Grinnell. It sat in his garage untill 1999 when I got it bought, The tractor had TA,spin out rears,2 sets of remote outlets, delux seat and 2102 actual hours and flaw less metal,The elderly man told me when I picked it up, don,t use that TA thing, always heard if you use then they will breakdown so he never used it. I use it on my tree farm daily, serviced it recently had almost2500 hrs.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. When I was growing up, we had a 560 gas. Put about 6,000 hours on it before the TA went out, and we used it a LOT! When we plowed or cultivated, we pulled the TA to turn around on each end. Dad had a square baler and always baled in 2nd with the TA back. I sold the tractor back in the late 1980’s with about 11,000 hours on it and it still had that first replacement TA in it.

When you use the TA on the sprag type, pull the lever back quickly, put it ahead quickly. Don’t feather it or you’ll burn out the direct clutch. Don’t pull the TA back when you are going down hill when slowing the tractor down in road gear. The sprag clutch will freewheel and that is hard on the rollers on the sprag clutch. Use it for more drawbar power or a slower gear ratio for PTO work. Keep Hy-Tran in the rear end, not 80 or 90 weight gear lube.

Finally, keep the TA adjusted.

OK, Granger, I'm with you now. Nice country. I just about settled there when my wife and I both worked for Farm Bureau. My wife still does. We never used the TA on our 300U because my Gramps told us the same thing! Sealand Park is what you are thinking of I'll bet. If driving by stop in. I work right off the interstate at the airport. I'm there every day~!
