howdy folks, i might have pulled a boner today. i bought a F-30 that is complete, not stuck, but not running. it has bad cut off rims and rotten tires. it also comes with a good set of 36 inch rear round spokes. i want to get it up and running, but i want to leave it rusty. i gave 1500.00 for the tractor. i hope i did"nt go over the deep end. it"s a nice tractor that does"nt need a lot. it has been kept in the barn. let me know your opinion..... ....thanks barry

My Dad had one that I drove when I was 14 or 15 and weighed about 135 soaking wet. I did my own hand cranking, and got thrown around a few times, with "kick back". He rigged an extension to the wide u shaped drawbar, and pulled two cutting harrows. I also got my thumb jammed with that big steel steering wheel. It was a big tractor in its day. HHY

F-30s are good property. Check for external block cracks behind the carb. If no cracks it is even better. I think you did just fine if not great!

thanks, i want to keep it rusty and running. like the old farmalls i grew up with and the ones i seen around the local farms. it will be used to pull wagons and do small chores around the farm. i always liked the big 30's. i want to find a set of steel for it and run a separator with it when possible. no cracks that i can find, but who knows. it's just seems like a large amount for me to spend on a toy!
..... ....thanks again, barry

Steel for F 30 is available around here. Have no idea of where you are, but a friend of mine here in central ILL has steel for the F30. The rear are much cheaper than the front. If you are close to central ILL, let me know and I will give you his #. JIM

Thats ok, Its a large toy. Keep your eyes open Steel is out there yet. Fronts are pricey though. Those tractors need a hard pull every once in awhile.

I have had an F30 for years, and it had a cracked block so I junked the engine. I might have fixed it except that it had only a hand crank and there's no way I could crank that big of an engine. If it had backfired it would have broke every bone in my body! I put a VW engine in it and it worked pretty good for a long time. Still have the old engine laying somewhere in the weeds. Anybody need a boat anchor?
