Even if it was a big rotary offset rig, I have a hard time seeing it breaking off a hi-line pole. I'd like to see the mower afterwards. Bet it was true junk!

something don't smell right..... there's no way a sickle mower would take out a telephone pole, and even if it did there would be some serious damage to the mower and tractor! now maybe telephone poles out east are smaller or something but out here on the plains a telephone pole will stop a car or truck dead in it's tracks at 65mph and not break!

Hey! I have a hard enough time getting mine to cut hay. Never tried telephone poles!

If the pole came down that easily, maybe it was just about ready to fall anyway?

He was doing the communtiy a favor, locating the weak poles and taking them out, possibly saving those little kids live's, and saving the city crews valuable time also. All jokes aside, he's lucky there wasn't little ones around and no property was damaged.

I'm sure the tractor must have suffered the most. With any luck it was a Kubota or Kioti or something like that.....

Hit a fence post that was out of line. Breakaway didnt work. Sorta wrecked the mower.

I remember the first time I just "barely" nicked a fence post when I was 9yrs old...and the breakaway DID work. Of course I wasn't familiar at the time with the breakaway feature... Boy, I thought I was a dead duck for halfway tearing the bar off the mower! Grandad, however, just got on the tractor and backed it up against the same post and presto- good to go again. Sure had me sweating for awhile though!
