Can anyone help with the immediate problem of how to remove and replace a bad throttle cable and lever? The gas tank blocks access and the metal cover on the console only raises so far before you need to disconnect all the electrical connections and remove the steering wheel.
Problem 2 is a longer term problem. The tractor runs fine for 30-45 minutes then loses power and eventually stalls. After it cools completely it again runs as above. I have changed the coil (many times) added a resister an advice of a mechanic although I cannot find one shown in the manual. I eventually changed the entire wiring harness fearing an intermitent short, installed a new ground cable and replaced the plugs, points and condenser as well as the voltage regulator. I am stumped and no one else I have spoken to has any further suggestions. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Jim

Perhaps you have a fuel problem. If it has sat for any length of time there cold be a restriction in the gas line system somewhere. Or you could have a screwed fuel pump that fails as it warms up.As well check your manifold for cracks. If you ever want to sell her let me know.(Red in Ontario)

Ida Red,
Thanks for the response. My 154 has gravity feed, no fuel pump. I can find no cracks in the manifold and I had put Stabil in the fuel over the winter. This is the first real problem I have had in the 20 plus years I've owned it. I have changed clutches, put in new valves, rings, bearings, etc. just to freshen her up about 76-7 years ago. I may sell the old favorite though as I am soon selling the house here with acres of lawn and will have no need for a big mower. I am in Andover, NY, South of Rochester,NY, near the Pennsylvania border. 607.478.8106 or 716.474.7771 cell.
