I was wondering if this day would ever come .I don't have a sand blaster or anything fancy like that ,so ,it was using a wire wheel and scotchbrite pads and a wire brush but all the grease and oil and old paint is gone. I'll start spraying tomorrow .Can hardly wait . Thanks to this discussion board it should look good .

Mike, I"ve restored 2 tractors, and havn"t used a sand blaster on either, and while I suppose a sand blaster would be ok for some parts taken away from the tractor, I would never sand blast anything near the tractor or anything that if invaded by sand would cause damage. That just about leaves wheel weights and rear wheel castings. I do however use an air needle scaler for all the castings which works great along with wire brushes, pocket knives, sand paper, wire wheels, oven cleaner, carb and brake cleaners, and anything else that ends up, while being labor intensive, gets the job done. As Cowman says, preparing to paint takes far much longer than painting itself.
