My tractor is IH 450 with gas engine and power steering.Have a Farmhand 225 loader on it.there are 3 levers and control valves for hydraulics. When engine is running it is laboring but when I operate the bucketengine smooths out and increases in speed slightly. I have cleaned the screen in the diverter valve (it was really gummy)and changed the strainer in the resevoir and all control valves are in proper position. After running for 10-15 minutes hyd. pump gets quite hot.Any ideas out there?

Kuch The valves on the 450 can be set for single or double by turnning the spool in the valve. They have a roll pin through them for stop. If the pin is broken off so the spool can get out of adjustment the valve or valves because all three are the same, this will make the system high pressure and that is what is happening. The end plate of the valve as a clip on it and the roll pin behind the clip. The clip is the stop to rotate the spool. Check that the pin for each valve is ok and is at one end of the clip.

take the dipstick out and try it. if it works --your vent is plugged..( in front of the valves...

still sounds like air. losen the dip stick plug so air can come out but not oil-- lift the loader all the way up and tip the bucket 2 -3 times...bring bucket back to normal position and lower loader without stopping and keep going -- it might lift the front end up--
do this 3-4 times...

since you had junk in the screen you also may have some blockage in the suction hose to the pump. there is a valve that keeps the oil continuously flowing.. if that is not working that would cause the heet in the pump.

I tried what Jossette said about the dip stick but to no avail.after I shut down took out the dip stick and oil was bieng forced out.As if there was pressure built up in unit.

you have more air in the system than oil!!!
your cylinders are probably shot and let in air internally or it is trapped.

this is messy but you need to bleed all cylinders
your system is like a well shookin bottle of pop. has no where to go but out.
loader in down position. crack the line( half way) on the top of cyl on both sides and lift half way up. tighten both lines and crack the bottom lines and let it down. and repeat on the bucket cyl.

the vent on top of the reservior needs to open ??!! to much air. take a sample of your motor oil. if the hydro pump is leaking it can bring air in and let oil out into the pan???
